I have been researching this firearm purchase for some time.  After drooling over higher-end semi-custom and custom 1911's,  I decided on purchasing the Colt Series 70.  This decision was in made in-spite of all the negative reviews that I read.  I just wanted something that was made by Colt.  After the decision was made, the search began.  I was reluctant to order one online after reading mixed reviews; I needed to examine it before buying.  By chance, I walked into 93 Outdoor Sports in Salmon, ID and they had the exact Colt 1911 I was looking for.  The owner allowed me to fondle the pistol for a few minutes and I was impressed with the fit and finish.  IMO, on par with the A2 Dan Wesson I looked at a few weeks earlier.

After receiving permission from my much better half, I filled out all the paperwork and payed for my new Colt 1911.  After leaving the store, we headed to the range for a trial run.  We tried two different brands of ammo and the gun functioned flawlessly.  Accuracy was extremely good.  Needless to say, I'm extremely pleased with this new Colt.  This is just part #1 of a mini series with this pistol.
